IN THE MIX

Wool mix suit, college, leather packbag and velvet boots, second hand.

The anticipation of hearing back from CSM and job interviews is killing me!

Almost as much as refreshing nowfashion when the Dries Van Noten show was late today...

GASOLINE

Nothing like a Thursday night dress up!

That's all.

The days go so fast. And the trams slow.

And I've realized you have to get out of your comfort zone every now and then.

Today it meant exploring sports and beauty at work, next week I have to please hundred people with my music choices so they stay on the dancefloor.

It's pretty cool and extremely scary.

It's about believing you can do it. Such a simple mantra but equally easy to forget!

Shirt, silk scarf and dress and puffa all second hand.

KATE MOSS BY GENE LEMUEL, 1989

I fell in love with these portraits by a relatively unknown photographer, Gene Lemuel...of who else than Kate Moss, in 1989. These if what are 'raw', starting from photographer being accidentally present in the frame to leaving the film processing flaws visible. They shot three rolls of 35mm black and white Kodak film together in London, just before she made it big. What I find appealing about these images is that have captured the magic of the moment so incredibly well. They are instant and undeniably beautiful. It's there, and that something is hard to capture. I find it hard to sometimes to pinpoint what I want to represent or where I am aiming creatively, and that was until now. This and Love on The Left Bank I posted earlier about. This sort of mix of moments that are instant but timeless, if you know what I mean.

And I can't forget to mention her amazing outfit!

You can read a detailed interview of the photographer over at style.com and more images at La Lettre de la Photographie.

CASH VALUE

Mei-Lim Coopers collection at the Central Saint Martins MA graduate show at London Fashion Week stood out for me personally. Since I am a sucker for this type of sporty luxe in the style of, ahem, Helmut Lang, I am glad to see it done in a refreshing and interesting way. Multiple wearing possibilities and just the right amount of contrast colour is a plus. As a cherry on the top, the designer had a Loro Piana sponsorship which means all of this is made from dreamy Italian cashmere...

You can read more about Mei-Lim Cooper and other graduates over at Business of Fashion, which I recommend strongly.

On the topic of CSM, my mini portfolio there is sent. I'm working on the full portfolio, hopefully they want to see it!

PUNCHING IN A DREAM

I got an invitation to send a mini portfolio to Central Saint Martins.

Here's a quick preview to Fedex and panic.

See you in a week guys. Wish me luck.

YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL

I noticed Samuji and Bruuns Bazaar had used raw silk in their Fall Winter 2012 shows. I have a beautiful Italian made raw silk wrap miniskirt in black that I'm looking forward to wear in the upcoming spring. This shiny silk has surfaced around me lately, at work in form of an Acne wallet with raw silk detail and at the Vuokko store that I visited this week, glued to the (mostly) timeless garments in wool and silk and linen.

I'm also drawn to lively texture where a lighter and darker color have been mixed (preferably wool-mix) and soft, filled jackets. Did I mention the Jil Sander coat I found was of that kind?

Well, suddenly, I feel like walking around in stiff silk pants and some silly Supreme or Raf Simons tee, as cool as Carolyn Bessete-Kennedy, listening to Nina Simone, not giving a fuck. It must be Friday!

I WISH I WAS

...wearing this Arelalizza cashmere beanie in black with my burgundy puffa jacket (I used to loan one from mom but it's mine now) and simple black ankle boots (after they have been to the cobbler).

Why reinvent the wheel?

I got really excited the other day when I needed to restock something as mundane as elastic hair bands and the set I first saw and bought came with silver and neon yellow ones.

I like the general direction of awesomeness...

NEWS FROM NOWHERE

The traffic in Southern Finland has been a mess today because of snow. Over 100 car accidents during the day.

I was scared to leave the office.

And yet I had the best trip to home.

It was so cold I had to take pit stops at two cozy cafes...

First Cafe Engel where I enjoyed green tea and an apple-ginger macaron.

I walked home by the sea and couldn't resist trying out tea at Johan&Nyström.

There it was, the perfect cup of mint-bergamot tea.

It helped me with the last 500 metres.

Shirt and knit, second hand.

SUBSTANCE

Pow, it's soon weekend! If you are looking for tips for saving this seemingly endless week, here's two. One: A Little Bit Eternal. Two: Matter Magazine. What they both have in common is Rick Owens. The first is a short film on Another's webpage about the designers fascination with furniture and the latter is one hell of a magazine that comes with a special section of different shades of grey, curated by Rick Owens himself.

Sounds like something you would dive in for? A piece of sunshine and drinks in every color? Something that resembles the adrenaline rush similar to being in a cage surrounded by sharks?

Oh I knew it would.
