CAN'T SEE MY OWN FACE

“I spent a great deal of my life being ignored. I was always very happy that way. Being ignored is a great privilege. That is how I think I learnt to see what others do not see and to react to situations differently. I simply looked at the world, not really prepared for anything.” Saul Leiter

WHEN MAY COMES

One basic weekend in Helsinki...
More 10300 behind-the-scenes stuff!
We shot a story about these super talented boys around the town, read all about it.
Thank you Fedja, Alvar, Ottis, Tuisku & photographer Jukka & stylist Mandy!
The first issue of the magazine is coming together beautifully.
I am thankful to be able to work with so many young talents and I get excited every time someone asks about the project.

AFTER THIS I HIT THE HIGHWAY

I saw these photos on our school wall. Our teacher took them at our exhibition opening a while back. When I saw them I thought, fuck, this is how I look when I'm not wearing weird XXXL clothes and look like a zombie at our printer room where I've probably scanned film for 10 hours. Hot estonian who's wearing snakeskin print, silver and shoulder pads in one outfit. I'm really going to miss my classmates, the chemicals that turn pink and turquoise when you develop film and the 30 second school walk.

Easter Holiday starts in two hours and my plan is to be awesome, look gorgeus and take a lot of photos with Mamiya RB67, Olympus Om 10 and Horizon 202, old panoramic camera. The only thing I must remember is to buy some film to our schools Polaroid back for Mamiya RZ67 I still haven't tried out. Forget big problems with little problems.

I'm going to rest for a while, because after this holiday I don't know when the next chance is going to come. Finish Leonard Cohen's Beautiful Losers, sit at our balcony and get some sun, see all my friends, write something new, go somewhere new, read all the magazine I haven't had time for. Shortly, find life again!

TODAY IS OUR LIFE

16.04.2011

Jonathan, 2011.

Today I'm wearing a turquoise silk shirt and silver jewellery.
It was a mistake to get Moleskine yearly planner in smaller size this year.
At least it's red.
It's good, I am working to get my website running and the magazine out.
More tomorrow!

TRANSPARENCY

Hi guys! You know that feeling when you're frustrated and just want to own ridiculously expensve stuff like old Revillon furs by Rick Owens and then you accidentally blast some weird canadian indie pop and everything is okay again? It's a beautiful feeling. It's almost better than having a bar of exclusively numbered chocolate and rolls of Kodak 400VC in the fridge. Yes, well, you have to listen to Transparency by D'eon.
I wouldn't say no to couture Revillon if I had the chance, though.

Varpu took these photos, she got around to develop a random party film and pointed out that I was in the majority of the photos but that's cool cause I got it like that...

Read books and act cool, kids.
Oh and if you're Finnish, remember to vote.
I can't, I'm not Finnish but you don't want me to get kicked out of Finland, now do you?

I'M STILL HERE, I'M STILL STANDING

Photoboothed these in Netta's awesome crib. She lives in a place that in English translates to The Edge. It's cool. It's in the middle of nowhere.

Right now I just have to embrace stress as my friend but it's ok. All good.

Enjoy your weekend!

"Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Unfortunatley the snow isn't an April fools joke but it's ok, some people have nuclear crisis in their countries.

I was wearing this some Sunday in near history, my favorite fur sleeve jacket, white linen vest, mesh button-down and unraveled silk shirt and black basics.

This week has been crazy, life takes and life gives, what can I say.
One day you wake up and you feel everything, starting from the kick of a double espresso, everything is just clear and more absurd than you ever imagined and you can't help but love it.

Is there life before death, that is the question!
