Hanne Gaby Odiele for Missoni photographed by Ryan McGinley. I love the outcome of this and find it better and more true to his work than the Stella McCartney bambi shots...going to look up for more of these...this one shot alone is so very inspirational. Image from Supreme's blog.
I'm doing a massive wardrobe cleanout part deux at the moment...it feels wonderful and I'm just getting started. Welcome to the survival of the fittest, haha. Seriously recommend this to everyone! It's a time consuming task but all the rewarding things are.

Recently I took some pictures for my friends jewelry line YVSF! Their AW 2009 collection, SOAKED is all about beautiful soaked feathers in different shapes of necklaces and earrings in shiny-coated dark and metallic shades. I love how they've reworked the feather shape usually associated with Native Americans and Easter (and birds doh..given) into something more darker and urban, in spirit of Ann Demeulemeester. Personally my favorites are the necklaces here, I can picture myself wearing them with a long black sleeveless dress, killer heels and beautiful clutch, finishing the look with the last necklace. How cool would that be? But the magic is they also look great with everyday clothes, for example imagine the first necklace with loose white tank, black bodycon skirt and Docs..awesome.
And every night, the city lights, they will be out for us, they will be out for us..

I-d October 2001, Natasa Vojnovic by Terry Richardson. Scan by bfsa. Wish I knew the stylist + the designers of the garments, the top above looks intriguing. I kinda like the new Cass McCombs record...I guess I've been looking around for an substitute for Elliott Smith for some reason. I got a black silk t with shoulder pads and a straw shoulder bag with a hazard opening mechanism from a nearby charity store recently and felt happy. Did not feel happy when I forgot to pick up my heels from the cobbler that I intented to pick up on Saturday. Felt even less happy when my 90s sandals gave me blood both in ankles and big toes. I mean, sandals. Didn't Jesus wear them? What, it's been like over 2000 years, how can mankind still mess them up? I don't quite get it...
I guess it's bad karma because my friend tripped over a small stair in heels and now has a swollen ankle. It wasn't my fault, I didn't tackle her or anything, it's just that this trendy bar was so crowded and I insisted we'd have a beer in a cheap pizza joint nearby and come back..luckily that pizza joint also had a large advertisement sign outside because if it wasn't for that sign, my friend would've fallen flat on the ground. We both walked barefoot to her house after getting out the bus.
It's 5.30 am..I think I'm probably going to watch Rushmore and try to stay awake. I really need to remember to pick up my heels from the cobbler. They're all I need really.

This is part one, the phoenix.
The past weekend I drank two glasses of 56,40 euro per bottle champagne in a holey I climbed the great wall of China t-shirt, borrowed a novel about the beat generation, watched too much Seinfeld and wore my white pearl vest for the first time.
14. juuli kell 22:43 oh so much bullshit guys, instead of blabling just go biking and crash at high speeds, go swim too far and struggle to go back, eat some fine food, push the pedal to the metal on expressway, stick a finger to an AC outlet, sit on a bench in the middle of the city when its 95degrees, run a half marathon. nobowy will know or care but you will.

Status comment picked up from a facebook feed. Yeah, I think that I, you and your mom need this. Thank you facebook friends friend. We all need to be reminded from time to time. Picture by Sanna. I really like that place, it's near the sea, old houses, embassies and crisp white benches...

I don't remember what I was doing but I remember the store window. It was a crappy night weather wise but my heart started to beat fast, really fast and I felt so lifted up. AND IT WAS BECAUSE OF THESE GIVENCHY SHOES AT NINA'S WINDOW. At home, I made a new list. List about what to buy this fall. I've been really thinking about buying 4-5 pieces a season, inspired by a certain The Fashion Spot thread. These are included. These, an Antti Asplund dress, Vagabond winter shoes and a perfect small grey vintage clutch I hope to find somewhere... Alright, alright I am going to continue second hand shopping but right now I have so much I could still part with so every new second hand piece means one out. I guess there are going to be temptations but I'm sure most of them won't top these shoes. And I really need winter shoes..and I CRAVE a small, grey croc clutch in my hands at nights.
Givenchy, 395 euros, you'll be my friend one of these days and when that day comes it's going to be a long, happy and caring relationship. Please don't sell out everywhere you're displayed. Picture from Nina's.
+ more about fall...In September DINOSAURUXIA is going to support Nite Jewel in Helsinki plus host an epic solo show for free some days earlier!
>Just some hilarious youtube clips I've picked up from facebook feeds! These are like, totally from my weekend.

One day we did nothing oh we went to some hip place to kill time but I had to walk the dog so that was that. Haven't been in a party mood lately, except on Monday...this Monday a girl used my sweet pink Lancome lipstick to write messages to a boy who broke his heart. It was OK cause you can get lipsticks from the counter, love never. It was kinda sweet too to see the sticky pink lines in the glass door...I think I'm even going to enjoy the counter experience less. Life is more lovable, you know?
You can't see my necklace in these pictures but I was wearing one, very very thin one. I think after all this layering like Mr. A I'm more into that, almost invisible, paper thin aesthetic for a change. More subtle stuff in general too.

1. An oversized clutch I bought from a second hand some weeks ago, it has become my favorite! I got suprisingly good service - a young worker there came up to me with five oversized white silk shirts they just put on sale and asked if I was intrested...I regret that I didn't have any extra money but it was ok since later that week I had a hold of plum Bruno Antonelli silk shirt for free at friends leaving party! It's gorgeus, I couldn't believe my luck!
2. Some old secondhand finds...kaftans are they? They are perfect for summer and then there's a white cotton knit from H&M I got from a friend's aunt. I'm not a skilled bed-maker...

Oh man, so much happening right now in the world of fashion, namely the Fall 2009 Haute Couture shows and the August cover of W starring Lara Stone and whatnot. It's intresting to see the Haute Couture collections of big fashion houses designed during the ongoing recession - it's no accident that John Galliano's Dior was so stripped down, literally, and that this time Chanel's epic stage had the cash cow of the company, the iconic design of No.5 perfume bottle, blown up as the background. The contrast between the huge white bottles and the models strutting past them wearing five figure pieces culminates where the fashion industry (key word: industry) is today. Or where the industry part of it has taken fashion today. Even Lacroix, sweetie, had adjusted! Yet Haute Couture Fall 2009 had an collection that almost made everyone forget the economic situation and concentrate on what matters and the honour of that goes to Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, one of the youngest couturiers ever, who delievered an immaculate collection. Valentino may have retired on time...the new king of Paris is undoubtedly an Italian one though his inspiration this time came from elsewhere. It's just appropriate that his muse, on and off the runway, Lara Stone graces the cover of W with her name written on the cover with big letters, like she was an actress or someone big enough to move copies anyways.
While the magazine business keeps on striving, this seasons Haute Couture is very much an digital one: the shows are twittered from the beginning to the end, making them online immediately. Long gone are the odd hours after the show when the online world had to wait for the pictures to appear online since someone's Iphone has published them right there at the show. Imagine if the schedule of the Haute Couture wasn't so cut down? Would we have any free time at all instead of following twitter feeds about frocks like slaves? Wait...when was SS10 Ready-to-Wear again? Lucky for me to not hold a job. Oh wait again...aren't we all fashion critics now, almost quicker than the ones who actually get paid for it?
Plus actually...somehow I feel that this recession has injected something to fashion that has made it intresting again. I can't really pin it down but all this blogging and twitter feeds combined with the will to survive in bad times..it's just exciting, isn't it? It's like there's a small fashion army with Haute Couture in the frontline.

PET SHOP BOYS LAST NIGHT!!!! Were those Gareth Pugh jackets I saw? Anyways, it was a show. They once again proved they are the best pop group (or as my friend said, any group) alive. And I've got confetti still in my bag. After that, exhausted, we did went for an ex-tempore swimming and chilled for a while in the beach. Love. Sanna took this pic while ago when we were also chilling in the seaside, near a skating park and an everlasting fire...Have a fabulous weekend!
