This is my friend Lauri, he's cool. These pictures were taken some time ago when Sanna turned 18 and we had a little grilling fete in her woods. Good times, one of her presents was this bubble machine!

You can sneer or disappear, behind a veneer of self-control but for all of those who don't fit in...

Last week was amazing! I went to two Anton Corbijn fanmeetings, got the book, got the poster...I also took some notes, lets see what happens. Saw the exhibition of his two times, went to a screening of the new Joy Division document and also went to see Claude Monet paintings that were like drugs. I literally couldn't take my eyes off them, and that's why I'm glad I went on the last day. You know once I start I cannot stop myself...I'm sure lots of art kids read this blog and can relate to my look-at-that-sky-the-brush-work-is-out-of-this-world-I've-stood-here-for-ten-minutes
observations.
I went to a nice free, outdoor festival, saw a nice folk act John McGregor and bought a cool vegan treats recipy zine. Riot don't diet girls. I wish. I also picked up a free copy of Vihreä Lanka, a newspaper of the Green Party. Hehe. It featured a eco fashion spread styled by Liisa Jokinen, one half of Hel Looks. She had picked out jewellery by Miia Halmesmaa, very cool. We like ponies. We don't like climate change but oh all those nice things...
I also got a ticket to see Sigur Ros and new amazing shoes for a fiver from dinsko, they're copies of Miu Mius last fall's collection. It's kinda amazing that I found them from marked-down basket since I wanted the originals, but then I used my money for something else. No hard feelings. Then all of the copies I saw were fugly and overpriced for the quality, so this is wonderful. They have 4-inch heels that I didn't notice, they didn't look that high you know? They also gave me blisters, but I really didn't notice that either, if it wasn't for the blood. In other words, they're surprisingly comfortable, and you'll definitely going to see a picture of them soon.
One last thing. Why is over half of new Purple Journal's stories written in French? It's a let down, last issues stories were so cool and in English, now I can't understand anything. This is a sign that I need to pick up my French studies, and actually start reading French Vogue.
P.S MY NEW GLASSES HAVE ARRIVED! Now all they need is a lense-change, so they're shipped to Germany where all of that is done. In three years, I'll look like a phatetic hipster stuck in 2008 with her trendy Clubmasters. Sad.

behind closed doors they still want more

pictures: helsinkibiennale.com, tyylitaivas.fi
Some years ago, I saw a picture of beautiful key necklaces by Veera Kulju, probably in a Finnish design mag called Muoto that has since folded. I thought that the porcelain keys were so fine, beautiful, something that I would wear. Then something else got my attention and sadly I never researched them further. This year, I saw them again, in a brochure of Stockmann's This is me. Who are you? - a ten-day young designers sales exhibition. They were even more beautiful in real life, shiny and appealing. The packaging is good too, fancy black boxes straight from Danish factory where apparently everyone gets them done. They are also sold in Art Museum Tennispalatsi, but without the fancy package. But here is the deal: the black box ones are 45 euros each and the ones sold in Art museum Tennispalatsi are 30 euros, 25 if you go ceramic. But the little black box does wonders: under the glass, sold in white small envelopes they don't look as dramatic. She clearly has understood what great value packaging has today. Major.

the clap of the fading out sound of your shoes made him wonder who he thought that he knew

I'm waiting for the sun to rise! That would be somewhere around 4:30. Oh dear, why am I pretending that I want artsy pictures when we all know that I'm just late with everything. It's a good excuse...not. But I've got many excuses to wear one of my favorite shoes, these gorgeus ones. I haven't pictured the heels because I take photographic pictures. I bought them years ago, and they were 17 euros or so, from UFF. Oh they are so shiny, shiny shiny...
Lately I've felt so bad because I haven't bought all those shiny magazines...everything she wants costs money...Try getting train tickets to Arvika, Sigur Ros concert ticket, course fees, traffic card and chilling in London etc. for 300 euros! That leaves little to none random shopping time. Especially because in Summer you can't get free food because school is out :( I love free food. Free clothes....I want to sell myself to corporate souls. Oh deary deary dear. I've got to get myself a cup of strong green tea. Only few ours to go, or two more years.

I want to be a good person, I want to be oh so much better. Make the person next to me irrelevant, I'll earn my place in heaven.

I bought this Valentino shirt couple of days ago. It was 33 cents, from the same place where I got my YSL shirt. That place is a magnet for designer basics! Oh yes, I did some shopping but with the money I spent, I think I'm going to be just fine.
P.S ALI MICHAEL, WE LOVE YOU.

I see you left a mark, up and down my skin, skin, skin.

Happy Mother's Day!
I'm going to London and Paris this June! This Summer is going to be so great in general. Nine days in London/Paris, a week in Sweden and 10 days in film festival in Italy's countryside. Plus Björk and Bob. So I've been thinking about wearing only these clothes...because I don't have the money to buy new ones, traveling takes most of it, and I've never really worn these either. My friends always ask me, Maria, why don't you wear your clothes? I don't wear them because times like these come.
P.S Slip into something different and download NIN's new album for free from nin.com. And not only for free, after it you can freely use it in your projects etc. without violating copyright laws because of this crazy Creative Commons license. It's so cool, take lessons Radiohead.
P.P.S If you can't see these pictures and you are a IE user, download IE7.
P.P.P.S Please please please click these pictures bigger? They look crappy right now, must brush up my internet skills.

BABY, DID YOU FORGET TO TAKE YOUR MEDS?

Photographed by Sirpa Lehto. Thank you again!
We're done with shooting our little short film, it's time to edit. I did the styling here and there goes the allure of that, it's really hard too. When you learn and execute the things you've adored, the magic goes because you actually start understanding the components behind it (anything from films, photographs, advertisements etc) and the mystery is solved. You begin to see things in new light, work things out, things that seemed out of reach before. Sometimes it's really mindblowing...and the rest of the time it's just simply eye-opening. Take media, for example. Once you're in a interview or editing someone's interview, you definitely take everything you read, see and hear with a larger grain of salt. It's all make believe...

And I remember, I remember why I dream in black and white

Photographed by Sirpa Lehto. More cool pictures today!
One of my favorite black dresses, from Daniel Palillo's SS07 collection got wet last Saturday. It was really heavy, and the water was warm.
